State Bank of India (SBI) has updated its ATM transaction charges, and this change may impact customers who often use ATMs of other banks.

The revision has been made due to higher interchange fees and is the first update since February 2025.

The new charges came into effect from December 1, 2025.

While transactions at SBI’s own ATMs remain unchanged for most users, customers using non-SBI ATMs may now have to pay more.

What Has Changed in SBI ATM Charges?

For regular savings account holders (excluding BSBD, KCC, personal segment, and salary packages), the free transaction limit at other banks’ ATMs remains the same.

Customers can still make five free financial and non-financial transactions per month.

However, once this free limit is crossed, the charges have increased.

Cash withdrawals will now cost ₹23 + GST, up from ₹21 + GST earlier.

Non-financial transactions such as balance enquiry or mini statements will cost ₹11 + GST, compared to ₹10 + GST earlier.

New Rules for Salary Account Holders

The biggest change affects salary package savings accounts.

Earlier, these accounts offered unlimited free ATM transactions at other bank ATMs.

Now, salary account holders will get only 10 free transactions per month at all locations.

After this limit, cash withdrawals will be charged ₹23 + GST, and non-financial transactions will cost ₹11 + GST.

This means salary account customers will need to track their ATM usage more carefully to avoid extra charges.

No Change for BSBD Accounts and SBI ATMs

There is no change in charges for Basic Savings Bank Deposit (BSBD) account holders.

SBI has also kept transactions at its own ATMs and ADWMs free for debit card users.

Cardless cash withdrawals, such as YONO Cash, will continue to remain free and unlimited at SBI ATMs until further notice.

Why SBI Increased ATM Charges

SBI explained that the revision was necessary due to an increase in interchange fees.

Customers who frequently use other banks’ ATMs may now see slightly higher costs, while those using SBI ATMs will not be affected.

The bank has advised customers to use digital options like UPI, YONO app, or branch services to avoid additional charges.

If you use ATMs regularly, especially non-SBI ones, this update is important to keep in mind.
