SBI announces New Credit Card Charges

November 1, 2025. Under this new rule, SBI credit card users will face an additional 1% charge when paying school or college fees through third-party apps like CRED, Cheq, and MobiKwik.

However, payments made directly on the school, college, or university’s official website or through a POS machine will not incur this fee.

Wallet Loading and Transaction Fees

SBI cardholders will also be charged 1% if they load more than ₹1,000 into their wallet. This applies to merchant codes set by network partners, which may change over time.

Earlier, transactions between ₹0 and ₹500 were free, but now fees apply for higher amounts, making the rules more stringent.

Other Charges and Advisories

Other common charges, such as cash withdrawal fees, check payment fees, and late payment fees, remain unchanged.

However, if a customer fails to pay the minimum monthly balance for two consecutive billing cycles, an additional ₹100 per cycle will be applied.

SBI recommends that cardholders regularly review transactions and billing details to avoid unnecessary charges.
