Saudi Arabia has made it easier and more affordable for skilled professionals from around the world to live and work in the Kingdom.
The government has introduced a new one-time Premium Residency permit fee of just SAR 4,000 (around ₹88,000) under five specialized categories.
Earlier, the annual cost for residency was a steep SAR 100,000.
The new rule, introduced in January 2024, is part of the country’s effort to attract top global talent in key growth sectors — including technology, healthcare, research, and business.
Five Residency Tracks for Skilled Expats and Investors
The updated Premium Residency program — first launched in 2019 — now has seven tracks, out of which five qualify for the new low-fee option.
These are designed for professionals, investors, and entrepreneurs who can contribute to Saudi Arabia’s growing economy.
Special Talent Track: For high-skilled professionals in science, medicine, research, or executive roles.
Applicants need a degree, at least three years of experience, and a minimum monthly salary (ranging from SAR 14,000 to SAR 80,000).
Gifted Track: For artists, athletes, and cultural icons who’ve received government recognition or awards.
Investor Track: For those investing at least SAR 7 million in approved Saudi businesses and creating jobs locally.
Entrepreneur Track: For startup founders with at least SAR 400,000 in funding and backing from a certified accelerator.
Real Estate Owner Track: For non-Saudis who own residential property worth SAR 4 million or more (not under a mortgage).
Successful applicants get five-year renewable residency — without needing a local sponsor or employer.
