If you work in the unorganized sector, it is important to register on the e-Shram portal. This portal provides workers with accidental insurance, and after the age of 60, a pension as well.
The main aim of the e-Shram portal is to create a national database of workers from the unorganized sector—such as construction workers, migrant laborers, platform workers, and gig workers—so that they can directly receive the benefits of government schemes.
The Ministry of Labour and Employment launched the e-Shram portal in August 2021. The worker’s details collected during registration are linked to their Aadhaar card, helping the government ensure benefits reach the right people.

Anyone working in the unorganized sector can register free of cost. Once registered, they receive a unique e-Shram card.
Benefits of having an e-Shram card:
Accidental insurance up to ₹2 lakh in case of death or complete disability.
₹1 lakh insurance for partial disability.

How to Register Online?
Visit https://www.eshram.gov.in
Click on “Register on e-SHRAM” on the homepage.
Enter your Aadhaar-linked mobile number and click on “Send OTP”.
Fill in the CAPTCHA and select whether you are an EPFO/ESIC member.
Enter the OTP and continue.
Fill in your personal, bank, and education details.
Upload documents as required and click submit.
Download and print your UAN (Universal Account Number) card.
