Red and orange alerts issued in several states

Monsoon is active in many parts of the country, and the weather remains unstable due to the effect of western disturbance.

For the last few days, continuous rainfall has been recorded in several states of North India, including the capital Delhi.

After heavy rain in Delhi-NCR yesterday, people may not get relief today either.

The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for parts of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh, where more than 15 mm of rainfall is expected.

An orange alert has also been issued for Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir, Odisha, and Tamil Nadu.

Rain Situation in Delhi-NCR and Uttar Pradesh

Delhi-NCR

There is less chance of heavy rain in Delhi-NCR today, but moderate rainfall is likely. According to weather experts, heavy rain and thunderstorms may occur tomorrow, i.e., September 3.

Rainfall is also expected on September 4 and 5. Considering the rising water level of the Yamuna river, relief camps have been set up in Mayur Vihar.

Uttar Pradesh

Rain continues in many districts of Uttar Pradesh. Cities like Lucknow, Barabanki, Bareilly, Amethi, Prayagraj, Hapur, Saharanpur, Bijnor, Kheri, Farrukhabad, Shahjahanpur, Meerut, Rampur, Bahraich, Badaun,

and Pilibhit may receive rainfall at the rate of 15 mm per hour today.Weather in Bihar, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh

Bihar

In Bihar, 12 districts may witness lightning and strong winds today.

A yellow alert has been issued for Samastipur, Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Sheohar, Sitamarhi, Saran, Siwan, Gopalganj, West Champaran, and East Champaran.

Uttarakhand

Due to the risk of landslides and cloudbursts, a red alert has been issued in Dehradun and Tehri Garhwal.

Heavy rainfall is also expected in Champawat, Bageshwar, Chamoli, and Uttarkashi.

Himachal Pradesh

Southern districts of Himachal Pradesh are under a red alert for the next two days, while the eastern regions may also witness heavy rainfall on the third day.

In the last 24 hours, Himachal, Uttarakhand, Punjab, western Rajasthan, and Telangana received more than 21 cm of rain.

Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, and eastern Rajasthan recorded 12–20 cm rainfall.

Rain Forecast in Western and Coastal States

The IMD has issued a warning of heavy rainfall from September 3 to 6 in Gujarat, Konkan-Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and coastal Karnataka.

Gujarat, especially Saurashtra-Kutch and ghat areas, may experience extremely heavy rain on September 4 and 5, which could affect normal life.

Similarly, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, and western Madhya Pradesh may see heavy rain between September 3 and 5.

Monsoon in Northeast and Other Regions

In the northeastern states—Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura—continuous heavy rain is also expected.

The combination of monsoon and western disturbance will keep rainfall active in northwestern and western coastal states for the next week.

The Meteorological Department has advised that alertness and caution are the best ways to minimize potential damage during this period.
