What’s New About the ₹10 and ₹500 Notes?

The design and security features of these new ₹10 and ₹500 notes will be identical to the ones already issued in the Mahatma Gandhi (New) series.

The only difference is that these notes will now feature the signature of Governor Sanjay Malhotra.

Will Old Notes Still Be Valid?

RBI has confirmed that all previously issued ₹10 and ₹500 notes will continue to be legal tender. So, there’s no need for the public to worry—old notes will remain in circulation.

RBI’s Recent Releases

Earlier, in the previous month, RBI had also announced the release of ₹100 and ₹200 denomination notes, which also bear the signature of Governor Sanjay Malhotra.

Who is Sanjay Malhotra?

Sanjay Malhotra became the new RBI Governor in December 2024, taking over from Shaktikanta Das, whose extended term ended.
