Ration Card holders in Bihar must complete eKYC by February 28

Reports suggest that the names of over 52 lakh people have already been removed from ration cards in the state.

Now, the Bihar government has issued a fresh notice for all ration card holders.

Mandatory eKYC for Bihar Ration Card Holders

The Food and Consumer Protection Department of Bihar has made eKYC mandatory for all ration card holders.

Every member whose name appears on the ration card must complete eKYC verification.

The process is completely free. No charges will be taken at any stage.

Ration card holders who are currently living outside Bihar can also complete eKYC using a mobile app.

However, this online facility is not available for beneficiaries living in Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Odisha, Puducherry, and West Bengal.

Last Date for Ration Card eKYC

The last date to complete ration card eKYC in Bihar is February 28.

If eKYC is not completed by this deadline, beneficiaries may stop receiving free ration under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY).

Both online and offline methods are available, but the process must be finished on time.

How to Complete eKYC at a Ration Shop

Ration card holders can visit their nearest PDS shop to complete eKYC.

Carry your Aadhaar card and ration card with you.

The shopkeeper will complete the process using biometric verification through an e-POS machine.

Verification will be done using fingerprints or iris scan.

No money needs to be paid.

This service is fully free of cost.

How to Do Ration Card eKYC Using Mobile Phone

You can also complete eKYC from home using your smartphone.

First, download the Mera KYC app and Aadhaar FaceRD app.

Open the Mera KYC app and allow location access.

Select Bihar as your state and verify the location.

Enter your Aadhaar number and registered mobile number, then verify using OTP.

Your details will appear on the screen.

Tap on the Face eKYC option and allow the camera to open.

Align your face inside the circle shown on the screen.

Once the circle turns green, the eKYC process is complete.

You can reopen the app to check the status. If it shows “Y”, your eKYC has been successfully done.

Why Ration Card eKYC Is Being Done

During verification across 38 districts of Bihar, several irregularities were found in ration card records.

Due to this, the government has already started removing ineligible names.

Bihar has more than 2.1 crore ration cards, covering around 6.74 crore beneficiaries.

The government wants to ensure that only eligible people receive the benefits of welfare schemes.
