The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert for various parts of India, forecasting heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds.
This includes regions like Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, and Odisha, which are expected to experience significant rainfall.
Thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds are predicted in states such as Bihar, Odisha, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Jammu & Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Assam, Manipur, and West Bengal for the next 24 hours.
In Kerala and Mahe, hot weather conditions will persist, while eastern Rajasthan may see dust storms accompanied by rain.
The IMD also predicts hailstorms and rain in Chhattisgarh, eastern Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Odisha, and Uttarakhand today.

Delhi-NCR: Light rain with thunderstorms, lightning, and strong surface winds are expected on May 5. Wind speeds may reach 30-40 km/h, gusting up to 50 km/h during thunderstorms.
Orange Alert: The IMD has issued an orange alert for Rajasthan, Gujarat, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Telangana, and parts of Andhra Pradesh.
Vidarbha and Maharashtra: An orange alert has been issued for Chandrapur and Gadchiroli in Vidarbha.
A yellow alert is in place for areas like Thane, Palghar, Pune, Nashik, Jalgaon, Satara, Vidarbha, and parts of Marathwada.
Mumbai and Navi Mumbai: Expect light to moderate rain or thundershowers on May 5.
North India: Rain is possible in parts of Assam, Rajasthan, Punjab, and Haryana.
Forecast Duration: The weather conditions are expected to persist until May 6, 2025. The intensity and extent of the weather activity could cause damage and disruptions in some areas.
The IMD has advised residents in affected regions to stay alert and take necessary precautions due to the adverse weather.
For Mumbai, the sky will be cloudy, with winds expected to be around 5 km/h at 9 am on May 5.
