In a move to make train travel easier, the Railways has launched digital payment facilities onboard.

Passengers can now pay for ticketless travel, excess baggage, and other charges using UPI if they don’t have cash.

The Ferozepur Railway Division has equipped all TTEs (Traveling Ticket Examiners) with handheld machines directly linked to UPI, making payments quick and convenient.

How the System Works

If a passenger lacks cash or change, they can simply pay through the TTE’s machine.

The payment is instant, and a receipt is issued immediately.

Currently, this facility is available on all trains in the Ferozepur Division, with around 375 TTE staff assigned these machines.

This system also helps TTEs avoid situations where lack of change leads to disputes with passengers.

Now, both staff and travelers can have a smooth, hassle-free experience.

Benefits for Passengers and Railways

Passengers no longer need to carry cash, which is a major relief in today’s digital age.

The machines work under a secure and transparent payment system, ensuring every transaction is recorded.

According to Paramdeep Singh Saini, Senior DCM of Ferozepur Railway Division, this system not only benefits passengers but also makes Railways’ revenue collection more transparent and efficient.
