Indian Railways has made an important change in the Reservation Chart Timing that will make it much easier for passengers to know the status of their tickets.
Earlier, the first reservation chart was prepared only 4 hours before the train’s departure, which often left passengers unsure if their ticket was confirmed, RAC (Reservation Against Cancellation), or on the waiting list.
Now, the Railway Board has extended the chart preparation time so that passengers can check their ticket status well in advance and plan their journey more efficiently.
This is especially helpful for long-distance travelers, or those catching a connecting train, bus, or flight.
New Reservation Chart Timings
Here’s how the new timing works:
Trains departing between 5:00 AM and 2:00 PM – The chart will be prepared by 8:00 PM the previous day.
This allows passengers to check their ticket status before starting their day.
Trains departing between 2:01 PM and 11:59 PM – The chart will be prepared 10 hours before departure.
Trains departing between 12:00 AM and 5:00 AM – The chart will also be prepared 10 hours in advance.
For example, if your train leaves at 10:00 PM, the chart will be ready by around 12:00 PM the same day.
This change is now applied across all railway zones, ensuring consistency and clarity for passengers.
Why This Change Was Needed
Previously, passengers on the waiting list often didn’t know their ticket status until the last few hours before departure, making travel planning stressful.
With the new system:
Charts are prepared earlier, giving advance information about ticket status.
Passengers have enough time to make alternate arrangements if their ticket is not confirmed.
This change is designed to make rail travel smoother and more convenient, especially for passengers with tight schedules or connecting journeys.
