Punjab Launches health card for Families

The Punjab government is taking big steps to improve healthcare in the state.

Under the leadership of Bhagwant Mann, a new health scheme has been launched to provide better and affordable treatment to people.

This scheme aims to ensure that no one in Punjab has to worry about medical expenses during serious illness.

₹10 Lakh Free Treatment for Residents

The government has increased the cashless treatment limit to ₹10 lakh per family.

This means eligible families can get treatment up to this amount without paying money upfront.

The goal is to reduce financial stress during medical emergencies.

The best part is that this scheme is for all residents of Punjab.

Who Can Benefit from This Scheme

Every resident of Punjab with a valid voter ID can register under this scheme.

Children below 18 years can also get coverage through their parents or guardians.

Apart from this, government employees, pensioners, and people working on contract or outsourcing in government departments will also get benefits.

Coverage for Crores of People

The scheme is expected to benefit around 6.5 million families in the state.

In total, nearly 3 crore people will get health coverage under this plan.

Each family will receive a health card, which will allow them to avail cashless treatment up to ₹10 lakh every year.

Health Card Will Be Essential

The health card will be the main document to get free treatment.

People can apply for it at facilitation centers, Common Service Centers, or online using Aadhaar and voter ID.

To make the process easier, trained volunteers will also go door-to-door to help people register.

Wide Range of Treatments Covered

This scheme covers more than 2,300 diseases, including serious conditions like heart problems, kidney issues, neurological disorders, and cancer.

Patients can get treatment at government hospitals as well as selected private hospitals and medical colleges.

So far, 823 hospitals have been linked to the scheme, and the network is still expanding.

Big Step Towards Better Healthcare

The Punjab government has proposed a budget of ₹1,200 crore to run this scheme smoothly.

Overall, this initiative is expected to bring major relief to families and improve access to quality healthcare across the state.
