Postmen to Help EPFO Pensioners Submit Life Proof Online

Public sector bank India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) will now provide digital life certificate services to EPFO pensioners right at their doorstep.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between IPPB and the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) to make this possible.

Under this partnership, IPPB will use its wide network of over 1.65 lakh post offices and 3 lakh postal service providers — including postmen and Gramin Dak Sevaks — who are equipped with digital devices.

These devices use facial recognition technology and fingerprint-based biometric verification to help pensioners submit their Digital Life Certificates (DLCs) easily and securely.

Details of the Agreement

Through this MoU, EPFO pensioners under the Employees’ Pension Scheme, 1995 can now complete their annual life certificate process online, without visiting bank branches or EPFO offices.

The Digital Life Certificate (DLC) system replaces traditional paper-based verification, saving time and effort for elderly pensioners.

According to the agreement, EPFO will bear all the costs of issuing digital life certificates, so the service will be completely free for pensioners.

IPPB had first launched the Digital Life Certificate Doorstep Service in 2020, allowing pensioners to use Aadhaar-enabled biometric authentication to generate their certificates quickly.

How Pensioners Can Use the Service

To use this new service, pensioners simply need to contact their local postman or Gramin Dak Sevak or visit the nearest post office.

They will be asked to provide their Aadhaar number and pension details for Aadhaar-linked face or fingerprint verification.

IPPB’s Managing Director and CEO, Viswesvaran, said, “This partnership with EPFO reaffirms our mission to bring essential financial and civic services to every household in India.

With our technology-enabled postal network and reliable last-mile reach, EPFO pensioners will now be able to submit their life certificates with ease.”
