Customers of Punjab National Bank may soon notice a change when withdrawing cash from ATMs.
The bank has decided to reduce the daily ATM withdrawal limit for some debit cards by up to 50 percent.
The new rules will come into effect from April 1, 2026.
According to the bank, the move aims to improve security, control risks, and encourage safer digital banking.
ATM Withdrawal Limits Reduced
Earlier, some premium debit cards allowed customers to withdraw up to ₹1 lakh per day from ATMs.
Under the new rule, the limit for these cards will be reduced to ₹50,000 per day.
Similarly, a few high-end debit cards that previously had a ₹1.5 lakh daily withdrawal limit will now allow only ₹75,000 per day.
The bank clarified that this change applies only to specific premium debit cards.
Limits for most other debit cards will remain unchanged.
It is also important to note that POS payments, online shopping, and contactless transactions will not be affected by this change.

The first group of cards will see their withdrawal limit reduced from ₹1 lakh to ₹50,000.
These include several popular cards issued on the National Payments Corporation of India network as well as international networks.

How Customers Can Update Their Limits
Customers who want to change their ATM withdrawal limit can easily do it themselves.
The bank allows users to set or reset limits within the new maximum limit.
This can be done through several channels such as internet banking, IVR, WhatsApp banking, or the bank’s mobile app PNB One.
Through internet banking, customers need to log in and select Debit Card Personalization under Value Added Services.
After selecting the account and ATM limit option, they can enter the new limit and confirm it using an OTP.
The process is even simpler through the PNB One app.
Users just need to open the app, go to Services, select Debit Cards, and choose Update ATM Limit to change the limit.
Why the Bank Made This Change
According to the bank, the new limits are meant to improve security and reduce risks linked to large cash withdrawals.
While the change may affect customers who frequently withdraw large amounts of cash, the bank believes it will encourage people to use digital payment methods more often.
Importantly, the bank has confirmed that there are no changes to online payments, in-store card payments, or other digital transactions, so customers can continue using those services as usual.
