Residents have noticed a dramatic decrease in their electricity bills. For instance, bills that previously amounted to Rs 11,000-15,000 have now been reduced considerably.

A resident mentioned that even after just a month of installing solar panels, she has seen a notable drop in her electricity expenses.

She believes installing solar panels is a wise decision and encourages everyone to take advantage of the scheme.

Widespread Adoption of Solar Panels

Gandhinagar’s Executive Engineer, HV Shah, highlighted that many people are installing solar panels up to 10 kW, tailored to their needs, ensuring sufficient electricity supply.

If a household generates more electricity than it consumes, the surplus is sold back to the grid, resulting in financial gains.

In one society in Gandhinagar, 76 out of 120 households have already installed solar panels, showing the scheme’s popularity and benefits.

What is the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana?

Launched by Prime Minister Modi in February 2023, the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana (PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana) aims to provide free electricity up to 300 units per month for one crore families by installing solar rooftops.

The government offers subsidies for the installation of these solar panels, helping families save money on their electricity bills and encouraging the adoption of renewable energy.
