Planning a Thailand Trip? New Visa Rules Make Travel Easier

In May 2025, Thailand introduced major updates to its visa policy that will impact travelers from around the world, including India.

These new rules aim to improve immigration control and make entry into the country smoother.

Here’s what you need to know about the changes.

Income Proof Now Required for Tourist Visa

Thailand has made it mandatory to show proof of income when applying for a tourist visa. This means travelers must prove they have enough money to support themselves during their stay.

Tourists need to show that they have at least 20,000 Thai Baht (about 550 US dollars).

To confirm this, a bank statement for the last three months is required.

Thailand had this rule earlier too, but it was paused in November 2023 during the COVID-19 period to promote tourism. Now, it has been brought back.

Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) Introduced

Another big change is the launch of the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC), starting May 1, 2025.

After this date, all foreign travelers entering Thailand by air, land, or sea must fill out the TDAC online at least three days before arrival.

The old TM6 paper arrival card has been replaced with this new digital version.

Travelers will need to provide details such as their passport number, travel plans, place of stay, and health information. This system aims to speed up immigration and increase safety.

Visa-Free Stay May Be Shortened

Thailand is also thinking about reducing the visa-free stay from 60 days to 30 days due to concerns about misuse.

Right now, citizens of 93 countries, including India, can visit Thailand without a visa for up to 60 days.

But this may change soon because some visitors overstay and are involved in illegal activities.

Follow the New Rules Before You Travel

Travelers must make sure they follow the updated visa rules, which include submitting the TDAC form and proof of income.

Those who don’t follow these rules may not be allowed to enter Thailand.
