AI technology company Perplexity recently announced that its AI browser, Comet, is coming to Android.
Previously, Comet was only available to Windows and Mac users through invite-only access.
Now, Perplexity has started sending invites to select users for early testing of the Android version.
If you want to try it, you can register through Google Play Store or Comet’s website, but priority will be given to users with Pro or Max subscriptions.
Who Gets Early Access?
According to Perplexity CEO Arvind Srinivas, initial invites are going to active users of the Perplexity Android app.
Users with Pro or Max accounts are likely to receive invitations first.
move shows that Perplexity is expanding its AI search engine capabilities to mobile platforms.
What Makes Comet Browser Unique?
Comet is not like traditional browsers such as Chrome or Firefox.
Instead of a tab-based interface, it offers a generative AI experience.
Users can ask questions directly about the webpage they’re viewing.
For example, if you’re on a job portal, Comet can help you find relevant job opportunities or other information on that page.
The recently upgraded Comet Assistant can now handle multiple tabs simultaneously, helping users search for jobs, travel deals, or complete other complex tasks.
Perplexity claims that the new version performs 23% better than the previous one.
Comet vs Other Browsers
Perplexity is positioning Comet as a smart alternative to Google Chrome, which still holds over 60% of the browser market.
AI browsers like Comet and ChatGPT Atlas are making browsing more interactive and intelligent by integrating AI directly into the web experience.
Comet allows users to interact with webpages in real-time, making tasks like research, shopping, or job hunting faster and easier.
With Android support, Perplexity aims to reach a wider audience and compete in the growing AI browser market.
