Pakistan Reopens Airspace for Commercial and Military Flights

Pakistan has reopened its airspace to all commercial and military flights after reaching a ceasefire agreement with India.

The ceasefire officially began at 5 PM on May 10, 2025. The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) confirmed that the country’s airspace is now fully open for all kinds of aircraft.

Pakistan had earlier closed its airspace due to rising military tensions, including missile and drone attacks between the two countries.

The conflict between India and Pakistan intensified after a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22.

In response, India launched ‘Operation Sindoor’, destroying nine terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir during the night of May 7–8.

Following this, on the night of May 8–9, Pakistan carried out a wave of drone attacks, targeting 26 locations across India—from Jammu and Kashmir to Gujarat. These attacks were successfully blocked by the Indian Army.

Later, on the night of May 9–10, Pakistan continued its attacks using shells and drones, which were again foiled by Indian forces.

In response, India conducted precise strikes targeting only Pakistani military positions.

Ceasefire Violation by Pakistan

Despite the ceasefire, Pakistan did not fully stop its actions. Just three hours after the agreement took effect, Pakistan carried out heavy firing in Jammu and Kashmir’s Akhnoor, Poonch, RS Pura, and Nowshera sectors.

Drones were also spotted, and shelling using cannons and mortars took place in Rajouri.

The ceasefire was first announced by US President Donald Trump, and later confirmed by India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri. Pakistan also officially acknowledged the ceasefire.

As of now, flight operations in Pakistan have resumed, and airlines are gradually returning to their normal schedules. The Pakistan Airports Authority is keeping a close watch on the situation.
