After the terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, panic has spread in Srinagar.
A large number of tourists and locals are trying to leave the city, and many others whose relatives are injured are coming to city.
This has lead to sharp rise of flight prices.
Due to the seriousness of the situation, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has requested airlines to increase the number of flights to Srinagar and to waive cancellation and rescheduling charges to provide relief to passengers.
Air Fares See a Record Surge
On April 23, the cheapest flight from Srinagar to Bengaluru costs ₹23,724, and that too with a layover in Delhi. Another option costs ₹29,274.
On April 24, fares drop slightly, with tickets to Bengaluru starting at ₹12,431.
What Are the Normal Flight Prices?
Under normal conditions:
- Srinagar to Delhi flights usually cost around ₹6,000.
For July 1, current rates are:
- Delhi – ₹6,312
- Kolkata – ₹8,596
- Bengaluru – ₹7,724
- Mumbai – ₹7,098
This clearly shows how much more passengers are paying due to the current emergency.
Even with the DGCA’s steps, travelers haven’t received much immediate relief. Experts believe it may take a few days for the situation to return to normal.
