In response, the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has announced a special facility to help the families of the deceased settle insurance claims quickly and easily.
This arrangement aims to provide timely assistance to the affected families.
LIC’s Special Announcement
LIC’s CEO and MD, Siddharth Mohanty, expressed deep sorrow over the attack and assured that the company would offer several concessions to speed up the settlement of death claims.
Under this special facility, if an official death certificate is unavailable, government records or compensation documents can also be accepted as proof of death.
How to Apply for a Death Claim
To apply for a death claim with LIC, the process is offline.
The claimant must visit the home branch where the policy was taken and submit the required documents.
Required Documents
Written Intimation: Inform the branch about the death, including the policy number, date, and cause of death.
Claim Form A: A form with details of the deceased and the claimant.
Death Certificate: A certificate issued by the local body.
Original Policy Document: The original copy of the policy.
Proof of Age: Documents like Aadhaar or PAN card for both the deceased and the claimant.
Bank Details: NEFT form, cancelled cheque, or a copy of the bank passbook.
Property Claim Proof: If there’s no nominee, documents proving the claim on the deceased’s property must be submitted.
Additional Documents for Early Death
Claim Form B: Medical certificate of the last illness.
Forms B1 and B2: Details of treatment and proof from the treating doctor.
Form C: Funeral/Burial certificate.
Form E: Certificate from the employer (if employed).
Police Report: FIR, post-mortem, and investigation report (if the death was accidental or unnatural).
