Over 200 Flights canceled after Indian Army Missile Strikes

Over 200 flights have been cancelled due to restrictions following missile strikes by the Indian Army on Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) late Tuesday night.

At the same time, flight operations at 18 airports, including Srinagar, have been temporarily suspended.

Airlines like Air India, IndiGo, SpiceJet, Air India Express, Akasa Air, and some international carriers have cancelled services to various destinations.

Sources said that at least 18 airports in northern and western India are temporarily closed.

Airports that are shut include Srinagar, Leh, Jammu, Amritsar, Pathankot, Chandigarh, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Shimla, Dharamshala, and Jamnagar.

According to sources, over 200 flights to and from different airports have been cancelled. IndiGo alone has called off around 160 flights.

Air India stated, “Our flights to and from Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh,

and Rajkot are cancelled until 05:29 PM (IST) on May 10, as per instructions from aviation authorities regarding the closure of these airports.”

In a post on social media platform X, the airline added that passengers with valid tickets during this period will get a one-time waiver on rescheduling fees or a full refund if they cancel.

IndiGo announced that, due to the current situation, it has cancelled flights to and from Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Leh, Chandigarh, Dharamsala, Bikaner,

and Jodhpur for the day. The airline posted on X, “We expect changes in our flight schedule and advise customers to check flight status before heading to the airport.”

SpiceJet, also posting on X, said airports in northern India, including Dharamsala, Leh, Jammu, Srinagar, and Amritsar, will stay closed until further notice.

Departures, arrivals, and other services could be disrupted based on the situation. Affected passengers can choose a full refund or an alternative flight, if available.

Since midnight, at least 35 flights have been cancelled from Delhi Airport, India’s biggest and busiest airport, according to a source.

The source added that 23 domestic departures, eight arrivals, and four international departures have been cancelled.

Some foreign airlines, including American Airlines, have also cancelled flights from Delhi.

Akasa Air wrote on X, “Due to the current situation, Srinagar airport is closed to civilian flights, so our flights to and from Srinagar are cancelled.”

Regional airline Star Air cancelled flights to Nanded, Hindon, Adampur, Kishangarh, and Bhuj today.

Air India Express shared on X that the ongoing restrictions have affected many flights in their network, including cancellations to and from Amritsar, Jammu, Srinagar, and Hindon until noon.

Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) also posted on X, “Some flights from Delhi are affected due to changes in airspace conditions.”

On Wednesday, Bengaluru Airport issued a passenger advisory saying several flights were cancelled on May 7 due to airspace restrictions.

Meanwhile, Qatar Airways stated on X that it has paused flights to Pakistan due to the closure of Pakistani airspace.

In response to the Pahagam terror attack, Indian armed forces launched missile strikes late Tuesday night on nine terror camps in Pakistan and PoK.

These included Jaish-e-Mohammed’s base in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba’s base in Muridke.
