From Kashmir to Kanyakumari, the weather has taken a rough turn. On Wednesday, Delhi, Haryana, and Punjab received heavy rainfall.
While this gave people relief from the heat, it also caused waterlogging in many areas, disrupting daily life.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), thunderstorms and heavy rain are likely to continue in several states. An alert has been issued due to the forecast of more rain over the next two days.
IMD scientist Naresh Kumar said an orange alert has been issued for Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Delhi NCR, and Uttar Pradesh today.
In particular, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are expected to receive heavy rainfall for the next 6–7 days.
Alerts in Telangana, Maharashtra, and Other States
In Telangana, strong winds of 45–50 km/h are expected in the capital, and people are advised to take care of their health. Heavy rainfall is expected in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana as well.
Orange alert has been issued for: Adilabad, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, and Nizamabad
Yellow alert has been issued for: Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Medak, and Kamareddy
Heavy rain with lightning and strong winds may also hit places like Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Mahbubnagar, Vanaparthi, Narayanpet, Jogulamba Gadwal, Mulugu, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Warangal, Hanumakonda, Mahbubabad, Jangaon, Siddipet, and Yadadri Bhuvangiri.
In Karnataka, due to heavy rainfall, schools and colleges have been closed in many districts for Friday.
Rain Warnings for Other Parts of India
In Maharashtra, the IMD has issued a warning of heavy rain in Mumbai and nearby districts. Yellow alerts have been issued in Raigad, Thane, and Nashik.
In Rajasthan, rain is expected in Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, and Alwar.
The IMD has issued:
Orange alert for: Coastal Karnataka, Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, Central Maharashtra, and South Interior Karnataka
Yellow alert for: Assam, Meghalaya, Kerala, Mahe, Nagaland, and Manipur
In Himachal Pradesh, heavy rain is causing serious problems, leading the Shimla Meteorological Center to issue a Red Alert. Meanwhile, Uttarakhand is under a Yellow Alert for the next two days.
Jammu and Kashmir’s upper regions are also under an Orange Alert due to possible heavy rainfall.
