In a major move to expand its user base in India, OpenAI has announced a one-year free subscription to its entry-level plan, ChatGPT Go.
The offer starts from November 4 and will be available for a limited promotional period.
This initiative is aimed at helping more people in India experience the power of AI-driven tools without any cost.
What Is ChatGPT Go?
Launched in August 2025, ChatGPT Go is an affordable version of ChatGPT, priced at Rs 399 per month.
It provides access to advanced AI features that were previously limited to premium users.
Since its launch, OpenAI has seen strong interest from Indian users.
The company revealed that paid ChatGPT subscriptions in India more than doubled in the first month, though exact figures weren’t shared.
ChatGPT Go is now available in nearly 90 countries worldwide.
Why OpenAI Chose India
Announcing the offer, Nick Turley, Vice President & Head of ChatGPT, said the company wants to help more people in India build, learn, and create using AI.
He added, “Ahead of our first DevDay Exchange event in India, we’re making ChatGPT Go freely available for a year to help more people easily access and benefit from advanced AI.”
India is currently ChatGPT’s second-largest market, with over 800 million global users, and one of the fastest-growing regions for the company.
