OpenAI has introduced a new tool called ChatGPT Translate.
It’s designed for translation, but with a special twist — it can adjust translations according to your needs.
For example, you can get a formal translation for business, or a simpler version for children.
Currently, the tool supports around 50 languages, including many Indian languages like Hindi, Marathi, Punjabi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
Easy-to-Use, Google Translate-Style Interface
ChatGPT Translate works much like Google Translate.
It has two boxes: one for your original content and the other to select the target language.
While ChatGPT already offered translation inside its main app, this is now a standalone tool available on both web and mobile platforms.
In tests, it worked smoothly on a web browser.
OpenAI has not shared details about the underlying model yet.
How ChatGPT Translate Is Different from Google Translate
Unlike Google Translate, which provides fixed translations, ChatGPT Translate allows customized translations.
You can guide the AI on how to translate the content so it’s easier to understand or better suited for the audience.
The tool is expected to support text, image, and voice translations, though image translation is not yet active.
The main goal of ChatGPT Translate is not just literal translation, but making content simple, clear, and conversational.
ChatGPT Translate is shaping up to be a smarter and more flexible translation tool, especially for Indian languages, and could change the way we interact with translated content.
