OpenAI has added a new feature to its AI chatbot, ChatGPT, enabling users to search through their chat history quickly.
Before this update, users had to scroll through all past conversations to find a specific chat.
This new feature, available on the ChatGPT web portal, is currently rolling out for paid subscribers of the platform.
In an announcement on X (formerly Twitter), OpenAI shared details about this feature.
Many users had requested the ability to search past chats, as finding older conversations was often difficult. Here’s a closer look at what makes this new feature unique.
How the Chat History Search Works
With the new chat history search, a magnifying glass icon now appears on the left side panel of the ChatGPT web interface.
When users tap on this icon, a text field opens up, allowing them to enter keywords to search for past conversations.
The text field also displays recent chats, making it even easier to access specific chats by entering relevant keywords.
Feature Availability for Paid Users
This search feature has been rolled out for ChatGPT Plus and Team users. OpenAI mentioned that Enterprise and Edu subscribers will receive the feature within the week.
However, users on the free version may need to wait a bit longer to access this functionality.
