Social media platform X (formerly Twitter) has made a big change to its AI feature ‘Ask Grok’. This feature will no longer be free for all users.
Now, only users with a premium subscription can use ‘Ask Grok’ in X threads. Free users will not have access.
The ‘Ask Grok’ feature is powered by Grok AI, an AI chatbot created by xAI. It helps users quickly get information about ongoing discussions or long threads.
Previously, users could tag @grok in a post or thread to get instant answers. Now, only X Premium subscribers or higher can ask questions directly in threads.
How ‘Ask Grok’ Works
‘Ask Grok’ was especially useful for understanding long or complex threads. For example, if a post had hundreds of comments, users could ask Grok, “What’s the summary of this thread?” or request additional information on a topic.
The AI chatbot would analyze the entire conversation and provide concise and clear answers in seconds. This saved users time by avoiding the need to read through lengthy discussions.
X’s Subscription Plans in India
X currently offers three paid subscription plans:
Basic Plan: Around ₹170/month. Users can edit posts, write longer posts, and access some extra features, but it does not include a blue tick.
Premium Plan: Around ₹427/month (web) and ₹470/month (mobile). Includes blue ticks, fewer ads, improved reply boost, and access to Grok AI.
Premium+ Plan: Around ₹2,570/month. Offers a nearly ad-free experience, article publishing, and advanced AI tools like SuperGrok.
Focus on AI
X owner Elon Musk has been working to make the platform AI-powered. Grok is part of this plan to transform X from a social media platform into an AI-based information and discussion hub.
With ‘Ask Grok’ now a paid feature, free users will lose access, while premium subscribers can continue using it. X may also introduce new AI features for premium users in the future.
