Only 10 Days Left for Free Aadhaar Updates: Steps to Update

You have only 10 days left to update your Aadhaar card for free. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has set the final date for free updates as June 14, 2024.

Initially, this deadline was March 14, 2024, but it has since been extended. The free update service is available only on the myAadhaar Portal.

While online updates are free, visiting an Aadhaar center for updates will incur a fee. UIDAI encourages people to update their Aadhaar documents to ensure their information is current.

What Can Be Updated on Aadhaar?

Aadhaar updates can be done either online or by visiting an Aadhaar center. Users can update demographic information such as address, date of birth, and mobile number online. However, for updates related to iris or biometric data, you must visit an Aadhaar center.

Steps to Update Aadhaar Online for Free

  1. Visit the official UIDAI website.
  2. Select the option for Aadhaar update.
  3. Choose the specific update option, like “Update Address.”
  4. Enter your registered mobile number and verify it with the OTP sent to you.
  5. Select the “Documents Update” option.
  6. Verify your Aadhaar details displayed on the screen.
  7. Upload the required documents to update your address.
  8. Accept the Aadhaar update process.
  9. You will receive a 14-digit Update Request Number (URN) to track the update process.

Why Keeping Aadhaar Updated is Important

Aadhaar is crucial for various financial and administrative tasks such as opening a bank account, accessing government scheme benefits, purchasing a SIM card, or buying a house.

Ensuring your Aadhaar information is up-to-date prevents potential issues and delays in these essential activities. Inaccurate Aadhaar information can hinder your ability to benefit from these services.
