Ola Electric, one of India’s top electric scooter makers, has run into trouble in Goa.
The state’s Transport Department has temporarily stopped the sale of Ola Electric scooters after receiving several complaints from customers about poor after-sales service and delays in documentation.
The decision came after a meeting in Panjim between a group of Ola owners and the Transport Director, where users voiced strong frustration over the company’s lack of support.
Why Ola Electric Faced a Sales Ban
The ban was imposed after many owners reported long waits for registration certificates (RCs) and a shortage of authorized service centers in Goa.
Several customers said that despite repeated follow-ups, Ola failed to offer timely help with maintenance, spare parts, and basic servicing.
These ongoing issues led to growing customer anger, pushing state officials to take action.
Affected customers also submitted a formal complaint highlighting these problems and asking authorities to hold the company accountable.
The complaint stated that the lack of service infrastructure and poor customer support were causing major inconvenience to users who trusted Ola for eco-friendly transport.
Transport Department Takes Action
Goa’s Transport Department has acknowledged the complaints and is reviewing the situation before allowing Ola Electric to restart sales in the state.
The department’s response shows a stronger focus on making sure electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers maintain proper post-sales service and follow registration rules.
A senior transport official said that customer satisfaction and safety are the top priorities, and any manufacturer failing to meet these standards may face stricter regulations in the future.
Sales Drop and Industry Impact
The suspension comes as Ola Electric’s overall sales have reportedly fallen by nearly 60% in recent months, due to increasing competition and customer concerns.
Industry experts point out that limited service options, software issues, and irregular deliveries have weakened consumer trust.
The Goa ban is a warning sign for Ola Electric and the entire EV industry in India.
As the market continues to grow, ensuring strong after-sales support, transparent documentation, and customer satisfaction will be key to building long-term trust and success in the electric vehicle space.
