The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has introduced a new AI assistant called “UPI Help” to make digital payments smoother and faster.
This smart tool is built to help users with payment-related queries, managing auto-pay mandates, and tracking grievances on the UPI platform.
With this launch, NPCI aims to make UPI not just the most popular but also the most user-friendly digital payment system in India.
Instant Help for Payment Issues
Many users face confusion or frustration when UPI transactions fail or get delayed.
The UPI Help assistant solves this by providing instant answers to user questions and updates on transaction status.
If a payment fails or is pending, users can now raise a complaint directly through the assistant instead of contacting bank customer care.
It will also coordinate with banks to ensure faster dispute resolutions under the UPI Dispute Resolution (UDIR) framework.
Manage All Auto-Pay Mandates in One Place
Another major highlight is the Mandate Management feature.
With this, users can see all their active auto-pay or subscription mandates at one glance.
Whether it’s monthly bills, OTT subscriptions, or automatic transfers, users can monitor and manage them without switching between multiple apps or portals.
This makes handling recurring payments much simpler and more transparent.
Easier Complaint and Grievance Tracking
The UPI Help assistant also simplifies complaint tracking.
Users can log and follow up on refunds, failed transfers, or merchant issues directly through the platform.
Earlier, these tasks often required manual follow-ups or long waits with customer service.
Now, the AI tool makes it faster and more efficient, ensuring users get timely updates.

NPCI announced that UPI Help will be available on:
Bank websites and chatbots
The DigiSaathi website
And soon, directly within UPI apps through redirection and API integration
This means users will be able to access help anytime, anywhere—right from the platform they already use for payments.
