NPCI Introduces BHIM 3.0 with Major upgrades

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has launched BHIM 3.0, a significant update to the Bharat Interface for Money (BHIM) app.

This new version brings enhanced features for both users and merchants, making digital transactions smoother and more efficient.

Key Features of BHIM 3.0

Support for More Languages: The app now supports over 15 Indian languages, making it easier for a larger audience to use.

Works Better on Slow Internet: It has been optimized to function smoothly even on low-speed networks, ensuring seamless payments in areas with weak connectivity.

Expense Management Tools: Users can now track and split expenses easily, improving financial planning.

Family Mode & Spend Tracking: New features like family mode, spend analytics, and a task assistant help users monitor pending bills and account balances.

Better Merchant Services: Merchants can now use an in-app payment solution integrated with online platforms, removing the need for third-party apps.

Release and Impact

The update will roll out in phases across different platforms and is expected to be available nationwide by next month.

BHIM was first launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2016 to boost digital payments in India. Since then, digital transactions have surged.

In the financial year 2024-25, digital payments, including UPI, have already crossed 18,120 crore transactions, with a total value of over ₹2,330 lakh crore.
