FASTag: If you often drive on highways, your vehicle likely has a FASTag installed.
This is a small sticker that uses radio-frequency identification (RFID) technology to automatically deduct toll charges from your bank account—no need to stop at the toll booth.
But if you’re having issues with your current bank or want to switch to a different one, you can now easily transfer your FASTag to another bank.
Why Do People Transfer FASTag?
There are several reasons why people want to switch banks for their FASTag:
RBI restrictions: Sometimes, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) places restrictions on certain banks. If your FASTag is linked to such a bank, it may stop working.
The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has made it mandatory to have only one FASTag per vehicle. If you’ve taken FASTags from multiple banks, only the most recent one will be valid.
Inactive account or poor service: Your FASTag may stop working due to an inactive account, lack of balance, or poor service.
If you’re not happy with your current bank’s service, switching to another bank is a good option.
How to Transfer FASTag Online
You don’t need to visit a bank branch—just use your mobile or laptop to get a new FASTag at home. Here’s how:
Step 1: Visit the official website of the bank you want to switch to.
Step 2: Go to the ‘Products’ or ‘Services’ section and choose the FASTag option.
Step 3: Fill out the application form. You’ll need to enter your vehicle registration number, owner’s name, and mobile number.
Step 4: Upload the required documents by scanning and attaching them.
Step 5: Pay the fee online, which includes the cost of FASTag, security deposit, and initial recharge.
Once you complete the payment, your new FASTag will be delivered to your registered address.
Make sure to deactivate your old FASTag from the previous bank to comply with the One Vehicle-One FASTag rule.
