Now making UPI payments through Amazon Pay is set to become much easier.

Amazon has launched a new UPI Biometric Authentication feature in India, allowing users to complete payments using their fingerprint or face instead of entering a four-digit PIN.

With this update, Amazon Pay has become the first payment platform in India to introduce biometric authentication for UPI transactions.

UPI Payments Without Entering a PIN

With the new biometric feature, users no longer need to remember or enter their UPI PIN for small payments.

If the transaction amount is up to ₹5,000, the payment can be completed using face recognition or a fingerprint.

However, for security reasons, any payment above ₹5,000 will still require the traditional four-digit UPI PIN.

This ensures a balance between convenience and safety.

Why This Feature Is Useful

This feature is especially helpful for people who make frequent online payments and want a faster checkout experience.

It removes the need to type the PIN repeatedly, making transactions quicker and smoother.

Amazon has shared that during initial testing, nearly 90 percent of users preferred biometric authentication over PIN-based payments.

This shows strong user interest and suggests the feature could soon become very popular.

Better Security and Ease of Use

Biometric authentication reduces payment interruptions and makes the entire process more seamless.

It works across major payment modes, including Send Money, Scan & Pay, and online merchant payments.

Security is also improved, as biometric data cannot be easily shared or copied.

Additionally, making payments becomes easier with one hand, which is useful when you are on the move.

Who Can Use This Feature Right Now?

Currently, UPI biometric payments on Amazon Pay are available only for Android users.

The feature works on smartphones that support fingerprint or face unlock.

Amazon has confirmed that iOS support will be added soon.

As this feature saves time and enhances security, biometric UPI payments could become the new standard for digital transactions in the near future.
