Making changes to your Aadhaar card—whether it’s your name, address, or biometric data—will now cost you more.
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has announced new charges that will stay in effect until September 30, 2028.
After that, the fee structure will be reviewed again.
New Aadhaar Charges Explained
If you want to update your demographic details (like your name or address), the fee has gone up from Rs 50 to Rs 75.
For biometric updates (such as fingerprints or iris scans), the charge has increased from Rs 100 to Rs 125.
However, biometric updates for children—which are required at specific ages—will continue to be free of cost.
These age-based updates usually happen at age 5, again between 5 and 7, and later between 15 and 17 years.
Special Services and Home Visit Option
This is the first fee revision in almost five years, and it covers updates to personal details, biometric information, and supporting documents once your Aadhaar has been issued.
For people who can’t visit enrolment centres, UIDAI has introduced doorstep Aadhaar services.
A home visit for enrolment or updates will now cost Rs 700 (including GST).
If multiple people from the same household use the service, only the first person pays Rs 700, and each additional member pays Rs 350.
In short, while Aadhaar updates have become costlier, children’s updates remain free, and doorstep services are now available for those who prefer convenience.
