On Monday, November 18, 2024, the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) launched a new integrated QR-ticketing system.
This collaboration aims to make travel in Delhi-NCR easier and more convenient. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between NCRTC
and DMRC was signed in August 2024, focusing on creating a passenger-friendly, digital transport network in the region.
Seamless Ticketing for Passengers
With this new system, passengers can book QR code tickets for both Delhi Metro and Namo Bharat services.
QR tickets for Delhi Metro can be booked through the ‘RRTS Connect’ app, while Namo Bharat tickets can be booked via the ‘DMRC Momentum 2.0’ app.
This integration will allow for a smooth, hassle-free travel experience across both transport systems.
The collaboration between the RRTS and DMRC networks will strengthen the multi-modal integration of public transport in NCR.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to provide comprehensive, efficient, and environmentally friendly travel options.
Benefits for Passengers and the Region
The integration will reduce long ticket queues, save time, and promote the use of digital transactions.
This step aligns with the Government’s ‘One India-One Ticket’ initiative, simplifying the ticketing process for passengers.
By combining NaMo Bharat and Metro services into a single digital platform, connectivity in NCR will improve, benefiting millions of passengers.
The system will also encourage more people to use public transport, contributing to a sustainable and eco-friendly future for the region.
NCRTC is helping reshape NCR’s transport landscape with projects like the RRTS, which will make travel more efficient and time-saving for passengers.
Agreement with IRCTC for Further Integration
In addition to the MoU with DMRC, NCRTC has also signed an agreement with IRCTC. This allows passengers to book both Namo Bharat
and Indian Railways tickets through the IRCTC platform, streamlining the ticket booking process.
NCRTC Managing Director Shalabh Goyal and DMRC Managing Director Dr. Vikas Kumar launched the new ticketing system by booking tickets on their mobile apps.
They expressed confidence that this digital integration will not only ease travel but also encourage greater use of public transport in NCR.
Long-Term Impact on Travel and Sustainability
This new QR-ticketing system is also aligned with the ‘PM National Gati Shakti Master Plan,’ which aims to integrate various transport systems.
The 393 km Delhi Metro network is now connected with the 42 km RRTS corridor, providing passengers with an efficient and integrated travel experience.
This initiative will reduce road congestion and contribute to a cleaner, more sustainable NCR.
