The global gas supply chain is currently facing disruptions, and its impact is also being seen in India. In some areas, people are experiencing delays in LPG cylinder delivery and even local shortages.

However, the government has not officially confirmed any shortage of gas cylinders.

At the same time, the government has updated the rules related to gas connections and made Aadhaar-based eKYC mandatory in certain cases.

As per the new rule, eKYC is not required for every LPG user. It is only necessary for those who have not completed their eKYC yet.

This means that if you have already done your eKYC, you do not need to do it again, and your gas supply will not be affected.

Who Needs to Complete eKYC?

The government has clearly stated that only users who have not completed their Aadhaar-based eKYC must do so.

Those who have already completed the process do not need to repeat it. This has brought relief to millions of consumers who were worried about having to do eKYC again and again.

Rules for Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) Users

Different rules apply to beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY).

According to the ministry:

PMUY users need to complete eKYC once a year

This is required only if they want to receive subsidized gas refills

It applies after the first 7 refills, specifically for the 8th and 9th refills

So, eKYC is not required every time for these users.

You Can Complete eKYC from Home

The government has made the eKYC process very simple and convenient.

Users can complete eKYC from home

There is no fee for the process

There is no need to visit a gas agency or center

This is especially helpful for people who find it difficult to travel.

How to Do LPG eKYC?

Follow these simple steps:

Visit the website or app of your gas company (Indane, Bharat Gas, or HP Gas)

Why eKYC is Important

According to the government, eKYC helps make the LPG system more transparent.

It ensures that subsidies reach the right beneficiaries

It helps remove fake or duplicate gas connections

It prevents misuse and ensures proper use of LPG
