No EPFO approval Needed for Aadhaar updates Now

There is good news for employees! The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has simplified the process of linking Aadhaar with Universal Account Number (UAN) and updating details.

According to the circular issued on August 13, members will now be able to update their information quickly without needing approval from EPFO every time.

How Employees Will Benefit

If your name, gender, and date of birth in UAN exactly match with Aadhaar, you only need to contact your employer.

The employer will link your Aadhaar through the KYC portal.

No separate approval from EPFO will be required, making the process faster and simpler.

What Happens in Case of Errors?

If there is a mismatch in details (name, gender, or date of birth) between UAN

and Aadhaar, the employer can now send an update request through the online Joint Declaration (JD) portal.

Earlier, this process was manual and time-consuming, but now it will be quicker.

Wrong Aadhaar Linked?

Sometimes, a wrong Aadhaar number gets linked to UAN by mistake. In such cases:

The employer can update the correct Aadhaar number through the JD portal.

The request will be sent directly to the local EPFO office.

After approval, the correct Aadhaar will be linked.

Why This Change Matters

EPFO had first introduced the Aadhaar seeding service in 2014 to ensure direct benefits to members and reduce employer dependence.

With the latest changes, the process has become more convenient.

This step will benefit millions of employees, allowing them to update their details easily and enjoy hassle-free EPF services.
