Purpose and benefits of the scheme

NHAI and the central government say that tiredness and lack of rest are major reasons for road accidents, especially for truck and long-distance drivers.

The goal of the “Apna Ghar” scheme is to have a resting place every 200–300 km where drivers can relax and sleep in clean surroundings. This will not only improve their health but also make highways safer for everyone.
