If you’ve ever dreamed of working in New Zealand, now is a great time.
The country is looking for seasonal workers in sectors like agriculture, tourism, and hospitality.
To make hiring easier, New Zealand Immigration has introduced two new visa categories under the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) framework.
Applications for these visas are already open.
Global Workforce Seasonal Visa (GWSV)
The GWSV is designed for long-term seasonal work. Here’s what you need to know:
Easy Hiring: Companies can hire foreign workers directly without advertising locally.
Experience Needed: Applicants must have at least three years of seasonal work experience in the last six years.
Residence Requirement: Workers must spend at least three months outside New Zealand each year.
Validity: The visa lasts three years, offering stability for both workers and employers.
Other Requirements: Health and character certificates are mandatory, but there is no English language test required.
This visa is ideal for workers seeking longer-term seasonal employment in New Zealand.
Peak Seasonal Visa (PSV)
The PSV is for short-term high-demand periods. Its requirements are stricter than the GWSV:
Labor Market Test: Companies must first advertise the job locally before hiring from abroad.
Experience Needed: Applicants must have at least one season of work experience in the last three years.
Validity: The visa is valid for seven months, perfect for temporary work.
Health Insurance: Required for jobs longer than three months.
Language Knowledge: No English test required.
This visa suits workers looking for short-term opportunities during peak seasons.
Jobs Available Under AEWV
Seasonal workers can find a variety of jobs in New Zealand, including:
Mussel or oyster farm workers
Calf rearers and relief milkers
Forestry workers
Meat and seafood processors
Winery cellar hands
Wool handlers
All job applications must be submitted through the New Zealand Immigration website.
These new visa categories make it easier than ever for Indian workers to find seasonal employment in New Zealand, whether for long-term or short-term opportunities.
