There is important news for people benefiting from the Old Age Pension Scheme and the National Family Benefit Scheme in Uttar Pradesh. The government has made a major change in the rules for age verification.
Earlier, the date of birth mentioned on the Aadhaar card was accepted as proof of age. But now, Aadhaar will no longer be valid for this purpose.
From now on, applicants must submit either:
A certified copy of the family register, or
An educational certificate that clearly shows the date of birth
These documents will now be used to verify age for both schemes.
Aadhaar No Longer Accepted, Update Documents Quickly
In-charge District Social Welfare Officer Vijay Laxmi Maurya said that this new rule has been implemented immediately as per government orders.
Aadhaar has been removed as a valid document for age verification in both the Old Age Pension and National Family Benefit Scheme.
She also warned that applicants who are currently on the waiting list and have only uploaded their Aadhaar card must update their documents on the portal as soon as possible.
If they fail to upload the required documents:
Their application will be rejected
It will not be processed further
This rule also applies to verifying the age of the deceased person under the National Family Benefit Scheme.
The department has instructed all public service center operators and applicants to strictly follow these new guidelines.
