If you’re planning to buy an SUV, this news might interest you. Maruti Suzuki is adding a new model to its lineup on September 3.
While the company hasn’t officially revealed the name, it has been leaked online before the announcement.
Internally known as Y17, reports suggest the SUV will be called Victoris. This information reportedly came from Maruti Suzuki’s official website, where the name briefly appeared in Google search results.
Maruti Will Sell New SUV ‘Victoris’ Through Arena Dealerships
Maruti plans to sell the Victoris through its Arena dealerships. In the SUV lineup, it will be placed between the Brezza and Grand Vitara.
The model is built on Suzuki’s Global-C platform, the same one used in the Grand Vitara. Sharing this platform is expected to lower production costs.
Also, many high-end features from the Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyrider are expected to be included in the Victoris.
Size and Rivals of Maruti Victoris
The Maruti Victoris might be slightly longer than the Grand Vitara (4,345 mm). This places it in direct competition with popular compact SUVs like the Hyundai Creta (4,330 mm) and Kia Seltos (4,365 mm).
It will also compete with the Kia Seltos facelift, Skoda Kushaq facelift, and Volkswagen Taigun facelift, all expected in 2026.
To stand out, Maruti will need to focus on offering better space, features, and pricing. Thanks to its long body, Victoris is expected to offer more boot space, which will be a big plus for family buyers.
Engine Options of Maruti Victoris
The Victoris will get its engine setup from the Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyrider. It will have a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine, producing 103 PS of power and 139 Nm of torque.
This engine will be available with a 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearbox. It will also offer Suzuki’s Allgrip AWD system as an option.
Alongside, there will be a 1.5-liter strong hybrid powertrain, delivering a combined output of 115.5 PS with an e-CVT gearbox. A CNG variant will also be available, offering 88 PS of power in CNG mode.
