US President Donald Trump has made entry and exit rules for foreigners in the United States much stricter.

Under the new rules, biometric verification will now be mandatory for more people. For the first time, children below 14 years of age

and senior citizens above 79 years will also have to go through biometric checks under the Traveler Verification Service (TVS).

What is Traveler Verification Service (TVS)?

TVS is a security system used to confirm the identity of foreign travelers. It works using biometric data, mainly photographs and, in some cases, fingerprints.

The system uses facial recognition technology to match a traveler’s identity during entry and exit.

Who Will Be Affected by This Rule?

The new biometric verification rule will apply to:

Children under 14 years of age

Elderly people over 79 years of age

Diplomats traveling with diplomatic passports

When and Where Has TVS Been Implemented?

The TVS system has been rolled out across the United States starting December 26. It is now active at all airports, border checkpoints, and sea ports in the country.

How Many Indians Travel to the United States?

In 2025, around 4,000 Indians are expected to arrive in the United States every day.

This year, about 1.5 million Indians visited the US, which is lower than 2.2 million visitors in 2024. Indians ranked third among all foreign visitors to the United States.
