Extra Charges on Online Gaming and Wallet Top-Ups

HDFC Bank has updated its credit card rules. If you spend over ₹10,000 per month on gaming apps like Dream11, MPL, or Rummy Culture using an HDFC credit card, a 1% extra charge will be added.

Likewise, loading more than ₹10,000 in a month into third-party wallets like Paytm, Mobikwik, Freecharge, or Ola Money will also attract a 1% extra fee.

Extra Charges on Utility Bill Payments

Banks will now charge extra on utility bill payments too. If you use an HDFC credit card and pay more than ₹50,000 in a month for utility bills (like electricity, water, or gas), you’ll be charged an additional 1%. The same 1% fee applies if your monthly fuel expenses cross ₹15,000.

New Credit Card Payment Rule

From July 1, the Reserve Bank of India will enforce new rules for paying credit card bills. All such payments must be done through the Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS).

This will impact major fintech platforms like PhonePe, Cred, BillDesk, and Infibeam Avenues. Currently, only eight banks support BBPS for credit card bill payments.

ATM Transaction Charges

ICICI Bank will now charge for ATM usage. If you use another bank’s ATM more than three times a month, you will be charged ₹23 for financial transactions and ₹8.5 for non-financial ones.

Aadhaar Mandatory for PAN Card

If you don’t have a PAN card and want to apply for one, an Aadhaar card is now a must. According to CBDT, starting July 1, 2025, Aadhaar will be required to get a new PAN card.

If you already have both PAN and Aadhaar, it’s important to link them. Existing PAN holders can link their Aadhaar without a fine until December 31, 2025.
