According to travel influencer Gagan, who recently returned from a seven-day trip to Albania, the country is “Europe’s best-kept secret.”

Her viral Reel, which has over 1 million views, showcases sun-drenched beaches, cliffside cafes, and pastel-colored streets, instantly capturing the imagination of Indian travellers.

This growing popularity is no surprise, as Albania offers a European holiday experience without the usual Schengen visa stress or high costs.

Easy Visa and Affordable Travel

Albania, located in southeastern Europe, does not require a Schengen visa for Indians.

Travellers only need to apply for a simple e-visa, which Gagan describes as “smooth and straightforward.”

Gagan adds, “The country feels uncannily like Greece, but at nearly half the price.”

From Pinterest-worthy beach clubs to dramatic coastlines along the Ionian Sea, Albania offers stunning sunsets and scenic landscapes that feel straight out of a postcard.

When it comes to cost, Albania truly stands out:

Airbnbs and hotels: Rs 2,000–3,000 per night

Daily expenses (food, transport, activities): Rs 2,000–3,000

Return flights from India: Rs 35,000–40,000

This affordability makes Albania an attractive choice for Indian travellers looking for a European experience on a budget.

Growing Popularity Among Indian Travellers

Albania is following the trend set by destinations like Georgia and Azerbaijan, which are gaining attention for offering European vibes without crowds or high costs.

These places feature old towns, beaches, cafe culture, and scenic landscapes, all with simpler entry rules for Indian passport holders.

According to Albanian Times, the first four months of 2025 saw a sharp rise in international arrivals, especially from non-traditional markets.

Indian arrivals, in particular, increased by 103% year-on-year, signaling a growing interest among Indian travellers.

For comparison, Italian tourists remained the second-largest group in 2024, with over 3,01,000 arrivals, a 7% increase from the previous year, showing Albania’s appeal to both traditional and new travellers.

Albania is clearly becoming a must-visit destination for Indian travellers seeking the charm of Europe without the hassles of visas or high expenses.
