Microsoft Stops Free updates for Windows 10 from Today

Today marks an important day for Windows 10 users. Microsoft is officially ending free support for Windows 10.

This means you can still use Windows 10, but Microsoft will no longer provide security updates or technical support.

Without these updates, your system will become more vulnerable to cyberattacks.

For now, the end of support will not affect how your PC or laptop functions. Windows 10 was first launched by Microsoft almost ten years ago.

Security Risks After Support Ends

After today, if any security flaw is found in Windows 10, users may face problems.

Microsoft will not release any patches or fixes for these issues, which could make the system harder to use over time.

However, Microsoft has provided some options for users who are not ready to upgrade to Windows 11.

Microsoft’s Options for Users

Even after support ends, your system can still be protected using Microsoft Defender Antivirus, which will continue to receive security updates until October 2028.

Microsoft has also introduced the Extended Security Updates (ESU) program, available for subscription starting October 15th.

Through this program, users can get free Windows backups and one year of coverage for $30 (around ₹2,650).

How to Upgrade to Windows 11

If your computer is compatible, you can upgrade to Windows 11. Here’s how:

Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.

Click Check for Updates.

If Windows 11 is available, download and install it.

After installation, your PC or laptop will restart. Sign in to complete the setup.

Make sure your device has enough storage and a fast, stable internet connection for the upgrade.
