If you are planning to buy a new MG Motor car, this news is important for you. JSW MG Motor India has announced that the prices of some of its models will increase from April 1, 2026.

According to the company, the price hike will be up to a maximum of 2%. Such price increases are common in the automobile industry at the start of a new financial year.

The company has also made it clear that this price increase will apply only to its core portfolio models, while some premium models have been kept out of this hike.

Why Are MG Car Prices Increasing?

MG said that the main reason behind this decision is the continuous rise in input costs.

The prices of raw materials, logistics, and other operational expenses have been increasing, which has put financial pressure on the company.

In its statement, MG Motor India said that this price revision has been done to partly reduce the impact of rising costs. This means the company is not passing the full cost burden to customers and is still bearing a part of the extra cost itself.

Premium Electric Cars Get Relief

The good news is that MG has excluded its premium electric cars from this price hike.

The MG M9 and Cyberster, which are sold through the company’s ‘MG Select’ channel, will not see any price increase.

However, other popular models from the company’s core portfolio, such as the Comet EV, Astor, Hector, and Gloster, may get costlier from April 1.

Same Trend Seen Across the Auto Industry

This trend of increasing prices is not limited to MG Motor alone.

Tata Motors has also announced a price hike of up to 1.5% for its commercial vehicles from April 1.

Apart from this, Audi India is also planning to increase the prices of its vehicles by up to 2%.

Big automobile companies like Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai are also considering price hikes because of the rising cost of raw materials.
