Meta rolls out new safety alerts on WhatsApp and Facebook

With this new feature, you’ll now get early warnings about suspicious activities — whether it’s during a video call or while chatting with someone new.

Online scams have been a growing problem, with fraudsters tricking users into sharing personal or banking details.

This new update aims to stop that before it happens.

WhatsApp Will Warn You Before Sharing Your Screen

Many scams happen when users share their screen with strangers.

To stop this, WhatsApp will now alert you with a pop-up message before you start screen sharing. The message will say:
“Only share your screen with trusted people.”

This reminder will help users think twice before sharing any sensitive information.

Though screen sharing on WhatsApp is end-to-end encrypted and not recorded, it can still expose private data if shared with the wrong person.

Facebook Messenger Adds Scam Alerts for New Chats

Facebook Messenger is also getting smarter.

If you get a message from someone you don’t know, Messenger will flag it as potentially suspicious.

The platform will use AI technology to analyze the message and explain how scammers might try to trick you or steal your data.

In addition, Meta has taken steps in India to improve safety during money transfers.

For example, UPI apps now show warnings before sending money, and WhatsApp has disabled its payment request feature to block fraudulent transactions.

Safer Chats and Calls Ahead

With these new features, Meta is helping users stay alert and avoid scams in real-time.

Whether it’s a random message or a video call, these alerts will give you a heads-up — making WhatsApp and Facebook safer places to connect.
