Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to unveil its next SUV for the Indian market on September 3. Contrary to popular belief, this upcoming model is not the e Vitara.
Instead, it will be a brand-new 5-seater petrol-powered SUV — a pure ICE (internal combustion engine) offering with no electric or hybrid variant, at least initially.
Two SUVs Coming This Financial Year
During the Q4 FY25 results press conference, Maruti Chairman RC Bhargava confirmed that the company will launch two new SUVs in India during FY26.
One of these is the e Vitara, which is set to arrive later this year, but the SUV launching in September will be a different model entirely.
e Vitara: What We Know So Far
Although the SUV launching in September is not the e Vitara, a lot is already known about the e Vitara itself — Maruti’s upcoming electric SUV aimed at competing in the fast-growing EV space.
The e Vitara will go up against rivals such as the Hyundai Creta EV, Tata Curvv.ev, MG ZS EV, MG Windsor, and Mahindra BE.6.
