Maruti Suzuki to Launch First EV in January 2025 with 500 km Range

Maruti Suzuki, India’s leading car manufacturer, is set to make a significant impact in the electric vehicle market by launching its first EV in January 2025.

According to Partho Banerjee, Head of Sales and Marketing at Maruti Suzuki, the company plans to introduce the car between January 17-22, 2025.

This launch will also include an electric vehicle charging infrastructure and comprehensive EV solutions.

Launch Comes with Full Preparations and Extensive Range

Banerjee revealed that all preparations for the EV launch are complete. The new electric car is expected to offer a driving range of over 500 km on a single charge.

It will be launched with the necessary charging infrastructure and support, ensuring a complete ecosystem for EV owners.

Maruti Suzuki’s decision aligns with government policies that have positively impacted the electric vehicle market.

Strong Demand and Focus on Inventory Management

Maruti Suzuki anticipates strong demand during the festive season and is offering discounts ranging from 25,000 to 80,000 INR to boost sales.

The company is also reducing inventory, with current stock levels covering about 36 days.

Recent reports indicate an 11% growth in Kerala and a 10% increase during Ganesh Chaturthi, reflecting positive retail sales and a 10% rise in bookings.

Company’s Position on Scrappage Policy

Regarding the government’s scrappage policy, Banerjee emphasized the importance of scrapping vehicles that are over 15 years old, as older cars pose safety risks.

Maruti Suzuki offers discounts to customers with scrap certificates, promoting the removal of outdated vehicles from the roads.
