Maruti Suzuki fans have something important to note. The popular hatchback Maruti Suzuki Ignis may no longer be available for purchase.
According to reports, the company has stopped producing this budget-friendly car, which was priced between ₹5.35 lakh and ₹7.55 lakh (ex-showroom).
The car was sold through Nexa showrooms, but dealers have reportedly stopped taking new bookings. However, the company has not yet made any official announcement, and the Ignis is still visible on the Nexa website for now.
Production Stopped, But No Official Confirmation Yet
As per dealer sources, production of the Ignis has already been halted. This means existing stock may soon run out at dealerships.
Even though there is no official confirmation from Maruti Suzuki, the ground reality suggests that the model is being phased out. Customers interested in the car might only find limited units available.
A Look Back: Features and Updates
The Ignis was first launched in 2017 and received a major update in 2020. This facelift brought noticeable design changes and improved styling.
It was offered in three main variants — Delta, Zeta, and Alpha.
The hatchback came with several useful features such as:
7-inch touchscreen infotainment system
Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support
6-speaker sound system
Automatic climate control
Push-button start in higher variants
One of its unique highlights was the aircraft-style toggle switches, which gave the interior a distinctive feel.
Safety and Engine Performance
In terms of safety, the Ignis offered key features like ABS, EBD, airbags, and ISOFIX child seat mounts.
The car was built on a lightweight platform and powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine. It produced 83 hp and 113 Nm torque. Buyers could choose between a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 5-speed AMT automatic.
Overall, the Ignis was known for its smooth performance and city-friendly driving.
What’s Next from Maruti Suzuki?
While the Ignis seems to be on its way out, Maruti Suzuki is already preparing something new. Reports suggest the company is working on a new micro-SUV (codenamed Y43).
This upcoming model is expected to compete with cars like the Tata Punch. The Punch currently dominates this segment, and Maruti’s new SUV could challenge its position.
The launch is expected either later this year or early next year, making it an exciting development for budget SUV buyers.
