Instagram tagged posts can now be added directly to a user’s main profile grid as part of a new feature rolled out globally by the Meta-owned platform.
The update gives users more control over how their profiles look by allowing tagged photos and videos to appear alongside their own posts.
Previously, posts created by others in which a user was tagged appeared separately in the Tagged tab. With the new option, users can add creator collaborations, group photos and other shared media to their main profile layout.
Instagram Tagged Posts Can Now Join Main Grid
Users have three ways to add tagged content to their main profile grid. They can select the Direct option from a tag alert received through a Direct Message notification.
Another option is to tap the three-dot icon on a post where they have been tagged and choose the relevant option from the Post Options menu.
Users can also press and hold a tagged post and add it to the current Tagged tab of their profile.
How Tagged Posts Appear on Your Profile
Once a tagged post is added to the main grid, it follows the standard reverse-chronological order. Its position is based on the original publication date of the post.
This order remains in place unless the user chooses to customise the arrangement of their profile grid. The feature therefore gives users greater flexibility in deciding which shared content becomes part of their main profile appearance.
Tagged Posts Can Be Removed Later
Users can also remove a tagged post from their main grid whenever they want. Removing it from the main grid does not delete the original post created by the other person.
The media also remains available in the user’s secondary Tagged tab. This means users can change their main profile layout without affecting the original creator’s content.
The update is particularly useful for people who regularly appear in collaborations, group pictures or shared posts and want that content to be visible as part of their main Instagram profile.
