Old Age Pension in UP Gets New Payment System
Under the revised system, the total quarterly pension of ₹3,000 will be divided into two instalments of ₹1,500 each.
Each instalment will be released at an interval of about 45 days, instead of the entire three-month amount being credited together.
The pension will be transferred directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer.
Beneficiaries can also check the payment status through SMS and the relevant portal.
The new system applies to eligible beneficiaries under the Uttar Pradesh old-age pension scheme.
Those who have completed 60 years of age can apply, subject to the prescribed eligibility conditions.
How the Pension Amount Will Be Shared
The contribution from the Centre and the Uttar Pradesh government varies according to the beneficiary’s age.
For beneficiaries below 80 years, the state government’s contribution is ₹2,400 out of the quarterly ₹3,000 pension, while the Centre contributes ₹600.
For beneficiaries above 80 years, the Centre and state government will contribute equally. Each will provide ₹1,500 towards the quarterly pension amount.
This means the total pension remains ₹3,000 for the three-month period, but the payment will now reach beneficiaries in two separate instalments.

Beneficiaries should ensure that their Aadhaar and bank account details are correctly linked so that the DBT payment can reach the intended account.
Payment information can be checked through SMS and the pension portal.
The revised system is therefore important for elderly beneficiaries who depend on the pension for regular financial support.
The total quarterly amount remains ₹3,000, while the timing of its payment has changed.
